Breathes

Yes.  Actively warms cool spaces by adsorbing moisture and releasing energy.  Cools warm spaces by releasing moisture and absorbing energy

R

Condensation

Wool absorbs and desorbs moisture thus helping to prevent condensation.

R

Safe to Install

Yes. Non-irritant, non-allergenic, non-toxic.  Can be installed with bare hands.

R

Durable

Yes.  Wool’s crimp and fibre scales enable it to maintain it’s loft and effectiveness over time.

Thermal Insulation – How It Works

Thermal Insulation stops the movement of heat. Heat likes to move from warm zones to cool zones as it tries to even the temperatures in both areas. This means in winter the hot air inside your home tries to escape outside where it is colder. In summer hot air tries to move inside where it is cooler.

About 10% of a home’s heat can be lost through the floor, 24% through the walls and a whopping 42% through the ceiling. Thermal Insulation provides a barrier to stop this heat loss.

Typical heat loss from an uninsulated house

Most thermal insulation products make use of air because still air is such a good insulator. Terra Lana thermal insulation works by trapping millions of tiny pockets of air inside it. This trapped air is held still and not allowed to move creating an extremely effective barrier to heat transfer.

Tested & Proven

Terra Lana’s ceiling insulation, wall insulation and underfloor insulation products were developed and tested by the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand (WRONZ, now AgResearch) a world authority on the treatment and processing of wool.

Terra Lana’s core products have been appraised by the Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ). Terra Lana produces other products in the range with different sizes and R Values but all are manufactured using the same raw materials and manufacturing
